This fits into the Dada Movement because during this movement artists were basically destroying artwork from left to right. As you can see Marcel Duchamp recreated the Mona Lisa with a beard and mustache. Technically he didn't destroy the artwork, but he insulted it. The Mona Lisa is a highly respected piece of artwork and Duchamp wrote all over it. Also during this time artists were call non-artists. To me Marcel is one too since he didn't do any work at all. Seriously anybody can draw a mustache and beard so this doesn't show any originality at all. All it does it raise controversy and talk. |
